Online Therapist in Connecticut

Are you keeping everything running at work, at home, and maybe on the train into the city, while something underneath feels off?

Do you notice the same patterns showing up in your relationships, no matter how aware you are of them?

Have you tried therapy before and felt like it wasn't quite what you needed?

Do you know something needs to shift, but feel stuck on how to actually move it?

If any of this resonates, you're in the right place. I work with people who are done managing and ready for real change.

I'm Ruth Alcantara-Zboinski, LCSW-QS, a licensed Connecticut psychotherapist specializing in trauma, EMDR, anxiety, and relationship and attachment issues. I work with clients throughout Connecticut through secure telehealth. Because I'm also licensed in New York, we can keep working together whether you're at home in Connecticut or at the office in Manhattan. Learn more about my background.

Who I Work With

I work with accomplished people in Connecticut who've built lives that work on paper, and often are, on many levels. Most have tried talk therapy before and walked away feeling like something was missing. They're looking for more than support; they want real understanding and real tools. And they're ready to dig into why the same patterns keep showing up.

What they're looking for is someone who gets the full picture and knows how to help them actually move through what's been stuck. They don't want more analysis of problems they already understand. They want direction, structure, and a therapist who sees all of who they are and takes them seriously.

What I Often Help Connecticut Clients With

Life in Connecticut can look calm from the outside. Underneath, many of the people I work with are carrying a lot:

  • The commute that eats your day. Early trains, long drives on I-95 or the Merritt, and getting home with nothing left.

  • Anxiety behind a full calendar. Work, kids' schedules, aging parents, and no room left for you.

  • Old trauma that surfaces in quiet moments. When life finally slows down, what you've been pushing away shows up.

  • Relationship strain. Different schedules, less connection, and the same arguments on repeat.

  • High expectations. A demanding career and the pressure to make it all look easy.

Why Online Therapy Works So Well in Connecticut

In Connecticut, getting to a therapist's office can mean a drive across town, a hunt for parking, or squeezing a session around a train schedule. Online therapy removes all of that. You meet from home or a private office anywhere in Connecticut, and your sessions fit into your actual life.

I offer sessions from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern, including early-morning and lunchtime appointments, plus limited evening hours. Many clients meet before work or on a lunch break.

The work itself is direct and focused. We're not here to fill time or talk in circles. But that directness comes from respect for you and your time. You deserve clarity, and you deserve to feel understood.

What I Help With

  • Trauma Therapy: For high-functioning adults who look fine on the outside and are exhausted on the inside.

  • EMDR: Evidence-based trauma treatment, fully effective through telehealth, including 90-minute intensives for deeper progress in fewer appointments.

  • Anxiety: For overthinkers, perfectionists, and the perpetually "on."

  • Relationship & Attachment Therapy: When the same painful patterns keep following you into every relationship.

Sessions are in English; bilingual clients are welcome to express themselves in Spanish anytime and be fully understood.

Fees & Getting Started

Session Rates

50-minute sessions (including EMDR): $205

90-minute EMDR intensive sessions: $250

Free 15-minute consultation

I'm primarily private pay and in network with a limited number of insurance plans. If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, Thrizer lets you pay only your estimated share at each session and submits the claims for you. Check your benefits with my free Thrizer eligibility check (opens in a new tab), or see full details on my Fees page.

Session Details

Sessions take place online from wherever you are in Connecticut. You'll need a private, quiet space and a reliable internet connection. Regular therapy sessions can be done on any device, including a phone, tablet, or computer. EMDR sessions require a laptop or desktop computer, because a phone or tablet screen is too small for effective bilateral eye movements.

Standard sessions are 50 minutes. EMDR sessions and 90-minute intensive sessions have different structures, which we'll discuss during your consultation.

Getting Started

Schedule a free 15-minute consultation using the button below. We'll talk about what you're dealing with, what you've tried, and whether working together makes sense. If it does, we'll set your regular session time and get you set up on the secure platform.

Serving All of Connecticut

I work with clients throughout Connecticut, including Fairfield County (Stamford, Greenwich, Norwalk, and Westport), New Haven, Hartford, and the shoreline. Whether you're managing the demands of a full life, navigating relationship patterns, or carrying the weight of a past that won't settle, your therapy travels with you anywhere in Connecticut.

Connecticut Therapy FAQs

I live in Connecticut but work in New York City. Can we still meet?

Yes. I'm licensed in both Connecticut and New York, so we can meet whether you're at home in Connecticut or at your office in Manhattan. You just need to be physically in one of those states during our session.

What if I'm traveling outside Connecticut?

Licensing depends on where you are during the session. I can see you anywhere in Connecticut, New York, or Florida. If you'll be somewhere else, we'll plan around it.

Can I do EMDR online?

Yes. EMDR works well through telehealth. You'll need a laptop or desktop computer, since a phone screen is too small for the eye movements. Learn more on my EMDR page.

What hours do you offer?

Sessions are available from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern, including early-morning and lunchtime appointments, plus limited evening hours.

Can I use my insurance?

I'm primarily private pay and in network with a limited number of plans. If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, Thrizer lets you pay only your estimated share at each session. See my Fees page for details.
